The power utility side closed the first half of the season with a 1-0 win over Hwange at the Colliery before Chidzambwa travelled to South Africa and returned home to make another trip to Namibia for the Chan first leg qualifier.

ZPC Kariba are eighth on the log table with 27 points from 17 matches, four points behind third-placed, How Mine.

Straight from the Warriors’ camp Chidzambwa travelled with ZPC Kariba and arrived in Bulawayo on Monday night and trained with his team at St Columba’s High School yesterday.

“It has been hectic for me, straight from the Warriors camp to the City of Kings,” Chidzambwa said. “But that is not a worry for me, as the boys have been training well and we have just had our training session in Bulawayo. We don’t have open slots, so there are no new signings and no one left. We just have to improve on our results away. It is not going to be easy against How Mine, who have been playing very well in both their home and away matches.”

How Mine gaffer, Kelvin Kaindu said the gold miners started the first half of the season badly and is hopeful that they will post positive results against ZPC Kariba, who beat them at Nyamhunga in their first game of the season.

“We only had two days rest in mid-season, as we had to play the rescheduled fixture against Caps United. But I am glad to say most of our players that were injured are now okay. We hope to start the second round on a positive note, the cohesion in our team has been good, so we did not bring any new faces to the squad and there are no departures,” he said.

Luveve will play host to two matches this afternoon, with the first tie featuring former champions Chicken Inn and struggling Bantu Rovers.

In the first match this afternoon, Chicken Inn will be hoping for a repeat against Bantu Rovers, whom they clobbered 5-0 in the reverse fixture.

With 29 points, Chicken Inn, who lost Teenage Hadebe to Kaizer Chiefs and Tafadzwa Kutinyu to Singida United of Tanzania, brought in Collin Duwa in mid-season, while Tshintsha Guluva have lost the league’s leading goal scorer, Bukhosi Sibanda and striker Obriel Chirinda to South African National First Division side Ubuntu Cape Town FC.
