The experienced Nyandoro headed home a Divine Lunga cross on 63 minutes to help the Gamecocks return to winning ways after a lousy run that saw them pick up just two points from a possible nine in their last three games prior to yesterday’s match.

The victory saw the hosts moving to second position on the log standings, with 32 points.

Nyandoro had been on the pitch for just 10 minutes when he scored the winner, having replaced Collins Dhuwa.

Chicken Inn goalkeepers’ coach, Julius Ndlovu was the first to admit that they had not had it easy against a youthful Bantu Rovers outfit, which had six teenagers in their starting line-up.

“It was always going to be difficult because they were technically organised, but there is no bad three points and the fact that they (Bantu Rovers) are in the league means they are there to fight,” he said.

Bantu Rovers head coach, Methembe Ndlovu said his charges had played well, but suffered from having made many changes to their team due to injuries.

“I am very pleased with our performance. I thought our shape was very good,” he said.

“They controlled a lot of possession, but did not create a lot of chances. We also struggled a bit as we had a couple of players playing off position due to injuries in our camp.”

Rovers were missing the services of defenders Fortune Sibanda and Shadrack Panashe Nyahwa through injury, while veteran defender, Dumisani Ndlovu was suspended.
