The Old Mutual-sponsored Zimbabwe rugby team produced a magical display on their way to a dominant 41-0 win over Border Country Districts to get their Under-13 Coca-Cola Craven Week campaign off to a brilliant start at Grey College in South Africa yesterday.

St John’s College tearway winger, Tasimbiswa Kadziyanike led the onslaught with a brilliant hat-trick of tries in addition to tries by flank Luke Pritchard, the younger brother of Sables loose forward, Connor, hooker Tawana Machawi, lock Gomezani Nyirenda and winger Tapuwanashe Chakuchichi.
Flyhalf, Andrew Robinson also chipped in with three conversions, while talented centre and team captain, Daniel Erasmus was named man of the match after putting on a fine display in midfield.
Erasmus was the driving force in the side, playing a role in almost all Zimbabwe’s tries, including a brilliant switch pass to release Chakuchichi for what will undoubtedly be one of the contenders for the tries of the tournament.
Zimbabwe coach, Gordon Pangeti was full of praises for his charges.
“I think our boys were ready from the get-go, we set up some good phases and scored some quality tries off setpieces, which was good to see,” he said.

“We were also strong in defence and our line speed was great, as they’re some of the things we had worked on. There are just a few things that we need to work on.”
The well-drilled Zimbabwe side called all the shots on attack early on, and they made amazing use of decoy runners, forward and backline interplay, swift passes, impressive handling, and intelligent kicks.
The Old Mutual Junior Sables also played at a high tempo and they were also clever at the breakdowns where, at times, they opted not to commit too many numbers, which of course resulted in them having more players on their feet in their flat defensive line – something that made it tough for Border Country Districts to get to the Zimbabwe try line.
Their scrummaging was also impressive, and on a few occasions won the ball off the Border CD feed.
Zimbabwe will continue their campaign today when they take on Leopards, who lost to Eastern Province 32-15 in their opening match.
