Wonder Chanetsa was convicted for attempted murder, but had three years of his sentence suspended on condition of good behaviour, leaving him to serve an effective jail term of two years.

Magistrate Themba Kuwanda heard that on May 23 this year Chanetsa stabbed Elia Makuvire on the rib cage, perforating his lungs and spline in protest over defection on his doorstep by the latter’s child.

A medical report produced in court indicated that Makuvire lost three litres of blood following the attack.

Valerie Ngoma appeared for the State.
