Mugabe’s age a factor in polls: Women

PRESIDENT Robert Mugabe, who was endorsed by Zanu PF as their presidential candidate, will contest the polls at the ripe age of 94 years, a factor that has become an interesting issue ahead of the campaign.

BY BLESSED MHLANGA

According to a recent survey conducted by respectable Research and Advocacy Unit targeting young women on their participation in the polls next year, it shows that they would rather vote for a younger President than trust Mugabe.

“Over the last year, there have been numerous conversations about elections, as Zimbabweans gear for the next elections in 2018,” part of the survey read.

“The interest raised mainly is the fitness of the President to stand for another term, when he will be 94 years, and whether there isn’t a younger person to succeed him.”

MDC-T has also been humping on Mugabe’s age, saying it will be a shock and area of scholarly study if Zimbabweans would vote for Mugabe who is past the afternoon of his life.

National Youth Assembly president, Happymore Chidziva said if Mugabe wins the elections at his advanced stage, where he even struggles to walk, seat up straight or climb stair cases, then universities should conduct a study on the brains of young Zimbabweans.

“This will be definitely an area of study to establish how young people would trust their future and that of their children in the hands of a 94 year old. For all good conscience you can’t have a person that age leading a country,” he said.

Chidziva said the MDC-T had realised the need to allow young people to take leadership positions to excite the young voters.

“Our president has brought in the likes of Nelson Chamisa as vice-president, because unlike Zanu PF, we are a party of the future. We carry the hopes and aspirations of the young people,” he said.

Zanu PF’s Kudzanayi Chipanga, however, defended Mugabe, saying he was a revolutionary icon, and a fountain of wisdom, that he remained competent and in touch with the needs of the young people, saying this was why he had embarked on “meet the youth” rallies around the country.

Chipanga must be examined by a psychiatrist, honestly what kind of exemplary leadership is being provided by Robert Mugabe? The country is simply groping in the darkness, the nation has lost hope. There is no way Mugabe could stir the country out of its economic and social crisis.Leadership renewal in Zanu Pf is not an option,it should had been implemented yesterday.

Chipanga, we heard you telling a crowd of people, some of them force-marched to a rally, that Mugabe will even rule from the grave, and the cabinet will be going to the Heroes Acre to be addressed by his rotten body, kukwana here ikoko? Ko ungagoti chii, imi marikudya naye, that’s why you want people to believe there is some wisdom still left in Mugabe’s head. Hopefully he dies before the elections and see if he can really contest from the Presidential elections from his grave at Heroes Acre as you and your Amai Grace want people to believe he can.

    Wapererwa Chipanga; Mapererwa veZanu.

When earlier surveys said he was more popular, you all ululated, but I guess the opposition are doing their homework well and people are now realising that the country will sink further under an old man like Bob.

    1. If Chipanga went to school past Grade 7 I will be surprised. So as a school dropout and enjoying life through bootlicking so excuse him. Without Mugabe he has no life if he did O’levels he may have 5 certificates with shona as the subject on each subject.

  3. Mugabe might make a perfect president in his next life or wherever he’s heading, otherwise as far as life here on planet earth is concerned his time has been long gone & he’s no longer worth his own name

  4. Robert will always win in my opinion, the power of Robert is based on Tribalism, Racism and Corruption. There is those who don’t want to lose the grip of superiority due to their tribal affiliation which saw them gain favours across the country not for intellect but for belonging. There is those who have acquired forced titles not for intellect but colour. Then there is those who have committed un-printable crimes against others, environment, economy etc who will do everything to stop anyone taking over from Robert. It is those people in the above categories who can influence the fate of Robert because they make the majority of the voters. With so many opposition parties and more to be formed before the elections how does one expect Robert to lose? A few of those people did defect to MDC in 2008 but the majority has since bounced back to Zanu, there is fear that MDC is sympathetic to those affected by Racism and Tribalism and would not defend the superiority complex should they win, as a result the hardcore Tribalist, Racists and Corrupt gurus will not vote MDC or anyone else.

    1. It 2018 is not 2008 and comments like the ones you made are the ones holding us back, seriously how do you expect to move forward with phrases like “Robert will always win in my opinion……” seriously

Check yourself and don’t pollute others with such thoughts

      thank you!

      1. It depends on your terminology of moving forward, you can not move forward without facing up to why you were in reverse gear to start with. You got to take stock, face up to the truth, find neutral ground and then move forward. All those who benefi from a unjust system will aggressively rubbish facts because they were part of the rot.

    2. After my own investigations in rural areas it is the 2008 violence which will win Mugabe not all that corruption, tribalism and racism. Many people in rural areas no longer want this party because nothing has changed in their lives infact their lives have turned for the worst since independence but the fear of 2008 is haunting them. Many people were humiliated and that fear is embedded in them up to now.

  5. Majority of women are so brain washed that, the only party they know is Zanu. Those women in rural areas are the worst interms of ‘being brainwashed’.
Some maids from Mash central helped to look after my kids for the past yrs. Most of them never went to school and some reached grade 5, since the norm in Mash central is, no girl child goes to Secondary. One thing i observed is, these maids love ZBC and ZANU. Out of all the Dstv channels, you see them tuning to ZBC, worse when a ‘hero’ is laid to rest. They are so brainwashed that, they dont think there are other opposition parties in Zim.

    1. You can say that again I hve a woman tenant who don’t get away from TV when a hero is being buried, she has been trying to write mathematics for the past 6 exams failing and guess what, she is from Mashonaland, her Masvingo husband is trying to force her into education. Just do a check on ZIMSTATS it will show you that all areas with large uneducated population are zanupf strongholds. Check Mbare Chimuranga choir and come up with a person who can even write her name except to shake their bums at rallies.

    1. it’s such sexist and misogynistic comments like tt tt prevent the nation as a whole from advancing…..pointing fingers, Grow up and get a life and stop weighing down the rest of us please!

  7. In a nutshell, the problems we are facing in Zim, are caused by women. They ululate, sing, clap hands, for an antiquated person who destroyed the once beautiful nation.
Ironically, these very same women are the ones who are suffering. They work as maids, vendors and mostly seen sleeping outside banks waiting to withdraw $20-00 bond notes. Come the election day, they put Xs on a person who is making them suffering. WOMEN NEED TO HAVE THEIR HEADS EXAMINED. I NO LONGER FEEL PITY FOR THESE CREATURES.

  8. You vote someone in for a new term hoping that they complete it. That cannot be said for Robert at 94. He is struggling as it is at 93, what about at 99? With idiots like Robert who cant see where to stop I wish the constitution had a maximum age, somewhere around 75 years or even 70, same as judges.

  9. THE TRUTH HURTS AND ITS A FACT.

  10. If Zanu PF wins the 2018 elections i will kill myself, there wont b a reason for me to live, the party has killed me already. God are you seeing this????

i have been going through several of your comments guys but have not seen anywhere written any sort of strategy to the already known and promulgated issues raised herein.of course it is pretty clear that every sane and sound citizen will not vote for Zanu-pf now now better known as ‘thief-pf’ and or thug-pf but can we do self introspection to see what we exactly has been going wrong with our electorate resulting in ZANU-PF winning when it is common sense that they cannot win any election under these circumstances.
