THE adage old habits die hard, aptly applies to a serial thief, who was recently nabbed for allegedly stealing $70 at a Harare clinic, where he was doing community service for a similar offence.

George Dumbwiza was on Saturday brought before magistrate Nomsa Sabarauta facing allegations of stealing $70 from staff handbags at Hatfield Satellite Clinic.
Dumbwiza (25) denied the theft charge and was remanded in custody to June 15 for trial.
The complainants in the matter are Melissa Chagonda and Emma Mandiramba all employed by PSI Zimbabwe and stationed at the clinic.
It is the State case that on June 8 this year, Chagonda and Mandiramba, who operated from a makeshift tent office, briefly left their bags unattended as they rushed for a meeting nearby.
The State alleges Dumbwiza then took advantage of the duo’s absence, allegedly unzipped the tent door and gained entry into the tent, where he stole two wallets containing a total of $77, two national identity documents belonging to Chagonda and Mandiramba and some bank cards before he left. He was, however, allegedly spotted by a security guard, as he came out of the tent.
The matter came to light when Chagonda and Mandiramba reported that their wallets had been stolen, leading to Dumbwiza’s arrest after his footprints were traced to and from the tent.
