THE ruling Zanu PF has warned its supporters and the opposition against engaging in political violence, as the nation heads towards the 2018 elections.

Zanu PF spokesperson, Simon Khaya Moyo on Saturday called for political tolerance among various party supporters.
“We want peaceful elections next year, and there must be no violence of any kind not only on election days, but on a day-to-day basis. As Zanu PF, we are saying people must behave and be free to say what they want, as long as they say those things within the confines of the law,” he said.
“We condemn violence of any kind, we condemn that. Let us agree as Zimbabweans to disagree on issues, but in the end we should all agree that we must not teach our children and the next generation that there is reward in violence.”
Last week, human rights watchdog, the Zimbabwe Peace project (ZPP) called on President Robert Mugabe to take advantage of his ongoing provincial rallies to urge the youths to embrace tolerance and shun politically-motivated violence during elections.
