The suspect, Cinema Chitepa, was not asked to plead by Harare magistrate, Barbara Chimboza, who remanded him in custody and advised him to apply for bail at the High Court.

Chitepa was remanded to June 9.

Allegations are that on May 19 at Chigomo compound in Marlborough, the complainant, Aleck Sesa, met Chitepa and asked him why he was telling people that he was having sexual intercourse with his wife using condoms and then throwing them inside his yard for his children to pick and play with them.

The State alleges this did not go down well with Chitepa, who then accused Sesa of having an extra-marital affair with his wife.

Sesa then went home, but Chitepa followed him armed with an axe.

It is alleged upon arrival at Sesa’s place, Chitepa shouted at Sesa and all of a sudden, he struck him with an axe on the nose bridge and he collapsed.

Sesa was allegedly rescued by Never Damiano, who was also hit with a brick by the accused person, but he failed to disarm him, as he was violent.

Sebastian Mutizirwa appeared for the State.
