The NEC filed summons at the Bulawayo High Court demanding the payment of $68 912,89 from Kango Products.

“Plaintiff’s claims against defendant are for an order for payment in the sum of $68 912,89 being monies paid to plaintiff in terms of clause 58 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement of the Engineering and Iron and Steel Industry SI282 of 1900,” the summons read.

“Interest at the prescribed rate calculated from the date of summons to date of full and final payment.”

In its declaration of the claim, the NEC submitted that Kango Products is an employer in the Engineering Iron and Steel Industry and accordingly falls under the NEC for the industry.

“The defendant is in arrears of $68 912,89 which amount despite demand, has failed, refused or neglected to pay,” the declaration read.

The company is yet to respond to the summons.
