Undenge’s deputy, Joseph Mujati confirmed the development yesterday, saying they have already sent the petition to Zanu PF secretary for administration, Ignatius Chombo.

“Yes, there is such a resolution and we copied the letter to people you mentioned,” he said. The petition was also copied to women’s league secretary, First Lady Grace Mugabe and Vice-Presidents Emmerson Mnangagwa and Phelekezela Mphoko.

The committee accused Undenge, who is also Energy minister, of failing to organise regular provincial meetings in line with the party’s constitution.

‘’We, the undersigned members of the Manicaland provincial executive, hereby, confirm that having met on April 21, 2017 for a scheduled meeting, at which we unanimously supported the Mashonaland Central Province to relieve the national political commissar comrade Saviour Kasukuwere off his post on the basis he wanted to topple President Robert Mugabe,’’ read the letter.

“The Manicaland provincial executive council also passed a vote of no confidence on Samuel Undenge on the basis that he was working in cahoots with comrade Saviour Kasukuwere in setting up parallel structures by imposing shadow members in the constituencies where there are legitimate Zanu PF MPs.

“He (Undenge) is highly incompetent in that he failed to conduct meetings as set out in the party constitution, he has allowed his wife Letina with the day to day running of the province and we unanimously resolved that comrade Undenge be relieved of his duties by the main wing youth league and women’s league (sic),’’ read the letter.

Undenge has also been under-fire for allegedly failing to rein in his wife, Letina, who has been accused of interfering with provincial structures.
