Although Mashonaland East acting provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Tendai Mwanza was unreachable for comment, sources confirmed the tragedy and identified the victim as Providence Bvumbamera

NewsDay is reliably informed that on the fateful day at around 0630 hours, Bvumbamera drowned while swimming in the company of his friends, Kudzaishe Mucheni (15) and Munashe Muchanya (18), who failed to rescue him.

Members of the police sub-aqua unit from Marondera later retrieved Bvumbamera’s body and took it to Marondera Provincial Hospital mortuary.
