Mliswa yesterday roped in Local Government minister Saviour Kasukuwere in a bid to whip the opposition MDC-T councillors into line.

“They are doing nothing. We don’t have roads, no mortuary; corruption is rife at the local authority. I have tried to no avail to engage them with a view to find a solution, but they have been refusing to co-operate,” Mliswa said.

Mliswa received backing from business executives, residents and farmers’ groups in his fight with councillors, arguing council had its priorities wrong.

Kasukuwere promised to help.

“My team will help whip the council so that it redirects its focus on service delivery and improve the well-being of our people,” he said.
