The elections came following last week’s dissolution of the entire executive by the politburo after both Chadzamira and Amassa Nenjana claimed chairmanship of the province.

“Everything is now in place for the elections. We will choose the main wing chairperson, the women and youth, while on other positions, we follow the basket system. The elections will be held at inter-district level,” the province’s caretaker leader, Joram Gumbo, said yesterday.

However, a circular purportedly from party commissar, Saviour Kasukuwere, said elections were only for the chairperson position.

Meanwhile, it was a hive of activity in the province yesterday, as Zanu PF factions made rounds canvassing for votes.
