In the summons filed at the High Court on October 26 this year under case number HC10881/16, the power utility accused the legislator’s son of failing to settle the Zetdc bill that had since ballooned to $11 143, 08.

According to court papers, Edwin is the owner of Chehoza Farm, Daisyhill Neighbourhood in Chipinge, where he grows macadamia nuts.

“The defendant (Edwin) is indebted/ liable to the plaintiff (Zetdc) as at September 27, 2016 in the sum of $11 143,08, being charges in respect of power/electricity supplied by the plaintiff to the defendant at the latter’s special request and instance,” Zetdc said in its declaration.

“The defendant has failed, neglected or refused to pay the above sum/amount despite written demand. By reason of the said failure, neglect or refusal to pay then above sum/amount, the defendant is obliged to pay the same with interest thereon.”

Edwin has since entered an appearance to defend notice.
