DYNAMOS full-back Ocean Mushure could cross the floor and join archrivals Caps United ahead of their participation in the African Champions League next year amid reports negotiations have been opened for a possible transfer.

George Deda, who handles the player’s affairs, confirmed yesterday the Dynamos left-back was considering a move to the green half of the capital. He said talks had already begun, but nothing had been agreed yet as Makepekepe were this week committed to preparations for their end-of-season awards ceremony.

“Ocean is considering a move to Caps United and talks have just started. But there is nothing much at this stage because Caps United officials have been busy with preparations for their end-of-season awards ceremony. We will see how it goes, but as it stands, he is likely to cross the floor,” Deda said.

Mushure is one of several Dynamos players whose contracts expire on December 31, and with the Glamour Boys struggling to raise funds to sign players, he might be tempted to join their bitter rivals, particularly since Makepekepe will be playing in the African Champions League next year.

Should the move materialise, it is likely to spark a fierce war between the Harare giants.

Another Dynamos player, midfielder Brett Amidu, had also been a subject of interest from Caps United and FC Platinum. But the highly-rated 20-year-old has reportedly decided to stay on at Dynamos.

Amidu’s contract also expires at the end of the month.

Other players whose contracts are lapsing in two weeks’ time are goalkeeper Tatenda Mukuruva, defender Ocean Mushure, Soccer Star of the Year finalist Godknows Murwira and captain Stephen Alimenda.

Caps United, who won their first championship in 11 years, are battling to beat the December 31 deadline to submit their squad for the African Champions League. The Green Machine, who have set a target of reaching at least the group stage of the lucrative tournament, have several players, whose contracts come to an end this month.

Midfielders Tafadzwa Rusike and Abbas Amidu and vice-captain, Stephen Makatuka’s contracts expire at the end of the month. Makatuka has been a subject of interest from South African National First Division side AmaZulu, coached by former Chicken Inn gaffer, Joey Antipas.

Antipas has been a long-time admirer of the Caps United centre-back and negotiations for a possible deal are understood to be at an advanced stage.
