The South African top-flight league restarts on February 7 and Chiefs will be looking to warm themselves up ahead of resumption.

Kaizer Chiefs have already written to FC Platinum, expressing their wish to travel to Zvishavane for a friendly match during this break.

FC Platinum secretary, Benson Wirimai confirmed the development yesterday, but said, while there was interest from his side, nothing had been confirmed.

“I can confirm that they (Kaizer Chiefs) have written to us through their agent, requesting a friendly match either this month or early next month, but nothing so far has been confirmed in terms of the dates or the venue for the proposed match,” he said.

With the local season having ended during the last week of November, most teams only resume training in January ahead of the 2017 season.

Caps United and Ngezi Platinum Stars kickstart their preparations early since both will be involved in continental competitions and Chiefs could also benefit from the two clubs.

Amakhosi are home to Warriors captain, Willard Katsande, as well as former Chicken Inn stars, Mitchell Katsvairo and Edmore Chirambadare.

Katsande, who will travel to Gabon with the Warriors, will miss the friendly match if it materialises. If the tour goes ahead, it would also give FC Platinum players a platform to sell themselves to the South African giants.

Chiefs are also believed to have shown an interest in assessing Dynamos midfielder, Brett Amidu, who is now set to sign for the Norman Mapeza-coached side.

If the Steve Komphela-coached Chiefs do tour Zimbabwe, they would follow in the footsteps of Mamelodi Sundowns, who visited Zimbabwe in 2013 and played friendly matches against Highlanders, Caps United and Dynamos.
