The 21-year-old Sithole, signed from Bulawayo Chiefs at the beginning of the season by FC Platinum coach, Norman Mapeza, spent part of the season playing for the club’s Under-19 side before he was called up to the senior side later in the season.

Caps are reported to have moved in to open negotiations for a possible deal for the player.

The Green Machine are likely to lose vice-captain, Steven Makatuka, who is linked with a move to AmaZulu, playing in the South African second-tier league, and are already scouting for potential replacements.

George Deda, who manages the player, confirmed that Caps had made a move for him.

“We are still negotiating. It’s a process and we haven’t reached a position yet. Once there is something concrete you will be notified of the official position,” Deda said. Caps United chief executive, Cuthbert Chitima could not be reached for comment yesterday.

The Green Machine, who won their first championship in 11 years, are battling to strengthen ahead of the December 31 deadline to submit their squad for the Caf Champions League.

The Lloyd Chitembwe-coached side, who have set a target of reaching at least the group stages of the lucrative tournament, have several players, whose contracts expire at the end this month.
