DYNAMOS can still hold on to star midfielder, Brett Amidu despite interest from league champions Caps United and the cash rich FC Platinum.

The highly-rated 20-year-old player is a subject of genuine interest from the two clubs after his outstanding performances for the Glamour Boys in the just-ended season.

With his contract set to expire at the end of the month, his manager George Deda confirmed that he had been contacted by suitors in recent weeks, with Caps United said to be dangling Champions League football next season.

On the other hand, the well-resourced FC Platinum are said to be offering a big cheque to prise away the youthful player from DeMbare.

A source yesterday confided to NewsDaySport that the Zvishavane side had even added a sweetener to the deal, by promising to take on board Brett’s brother Abbas, whose deal at Caps United runs out on December 31.

However, Deda yesterday said he would prefer his client to remain with Dynamos for at least another season before he can move away.

“Yes, they (Caps United and FC Platinum) have expressed interest in signing Brett, but we are yet to sit and discuss. The season has just ended so we are not in a hurry to conclude a deal,” he said.

“We must be very careful when making such a decision for the player. We want him to be at a club that would develop him into a better player. We have had a situation where young players make rushed decisions, which hinder their careers. Our decision will not be motivated by money, but also the development of the player.

“We would prefer for him to stay at Dynamos. They made him into a household name and we believe they can still mould him to realise his potential. We are waiting for the club’s officials to contact us so that we can see if we can renew the contract.”

This could be more good news to financially-struggling Dynamos after utility player, Godknows Murwira also committed his future with the Harare giants.

Murwira, whose contract is also set to expire at the end of this month, said he would not listen to any offers from Dynamos’ local rivals.

The utility player, who was mostly used as a right-back last season, was one of the bright spots in the team’s rather disappointing season where the former champions finished fifth.

Murwira was voted as one of the best players of the just-ended season, sparking genuine interest from FC Platinum and Chibuku Super Cup winners Ngezi Platinum.

While Dynamos haven’t started negotiations with Amidu, Murwira revealed that he had already been contacted by the club’s top hierarchy for a possible contract renewal.

The duo are not the only Dynamos players whose contracts are lapsing in just over two weeks’ time.

Goalkeeper Tatenda Mukuruva, defender, Ocean Mushure and captain, Stephen Alimenda are some of the players who could become free agents soon.

Mukuruva is set to travel with the Warriors to the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Gabon in January and it is highly likely he could be snapped up by a foreign club if he does well at the tournament.
