Murwirwa was one of the bright spots in the team’s rather disappointing campaign, where the former champions finished fifth in the 2016 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

The utility player, who was used mostly as a right-back this season, was voted as one of the 11 best players of the just-ended season.

With his contract set to expire on December 31, he has been a subject of genuine interest from other clubs, with FC Platinum and Ngezi Platinum reportedly showing interest.

However, the former Shabanie Mine player yesterday committed his future to the Harare giants, saying he will not take any offers from Dynamos’ local rivals.

Murwira revealed that Dynamos had opened negotiations with him for a possible contract renewal.

“My contract with Dynamos expires at the end of this year, but I intend to renew it, he said. “I have received some offers from local clubs, but I feel my interests are best served at Dynamos. I think I can get better opportunities playing for Dynamos than any other club. As long as the offers are from local clubs, I’m sticking with Dynamos.”

“I have already spoken to the club’s president (Keni Mubaiwa) and the treasurer (Webster Marechera) about it and they are keen for me to sign a new contract.”

Murwira’s public announcement on his desire to remain with the team comes as a boost to the club, who are reportedly struggling to hold on to most of their stars, whose contracts are also expiring at the end of the month.

Brett Amidu’s deal expires on 31 December and he has already been a subject of a bidding war between league champions, Caps United and FC Platinum.

His manager, George Deda has publicly stated that he is considering offers from elsewhere.

Dynamos goalkeeper, Tatenda Mukuruva, defender, Ocean Mushure and captain, Stephen Alimenda’s contracts also expire at the end of the month.

Mukuruva is set to travel with the Warriors to the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Gabon in January and it is highly likely he could be snapped up by foreign clubs if he does well at the tournament.

Dynamos are struggling to raise funds to sign new players or to renew the contracts of those that are running out. The situation could be severe if BancABC does not renew their contract with the club, which is also set to expire in three weeks’ time.

BancABC used to inject $80 000 into the Harare giants’ coffers every season for signing-on fees, but that was scrapped off last season. Dynamos’ deal with the bank expires at the end of the month.

With reports suggesting there has not been any word from the bank over the possibility of extending the marriage, Dynamos could find it difficult in the transfer market.

Just before the onset of the 2016 season, DeMbare lost key players, Ronald Chitiyo and Blessing Moyo to Harare City, while their top targets chose to go elsewhere.

Dynamos also lost captain, Augustine Mbara to South African club, Highlands Park, while former ZPC Kariba forward, Raphael Manuvire was set to sign for Dynamos only to be gazumped by Harare City.

DeMbare have in the past been blamed for failure to retain their key players, with critics pointing out that they wait until the expiry of the contracts to start negotiations.
