Discussions have been going on in the last couple of weeks, between Zifa and their Cameroon counterparts via match agent, Joe Kamga.

Yesterday, the Cameroon football administration announced on their website that the match will take place at the Omnisports Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium in the capital.

This is likely to be the Zimbabwe national team’s third and final preparatory match ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament, which kicks off on January 14 in Gabon.

Kalisto Pasuwa’s men play their first match against Ivory Coast in Abijan on Boxing Day and are likely to play Egypt or Libya a few days later before they round off against Cameroon, who share a border with Gabon.

With these arrangements in place, the Warriors are expected to enjoy some of the best preparations going into tournament.

Cameroon has offered to accommodate the Warriors for four days and three nights.

“The Indomitable Lions will face the Warriors on January 10 at home,” it was announced on the Cameroon FA website. “This will probably be the last friendly match the two teams will deliver before heading to Gabon where they will take part in Afcon 2017.”

Zimbabwe is expected to make its final preparations at the Confederation of Africa Football (Caf) Centre of Excellence in Mbankomo.

The Warriors are in Group B together with Algeria, Tunisia and Senegal.

Zimbabwe play their first match against giants Algeria on Sunday January 15 at Stade Franceville before taking on Senegal on January 19 at the same venue.

They round off their Group B assignments with a match against Tunisia on January 23, but this time at Stade d’Angondjé in Libreville.

The Warriors are likely to assemble on December 22 in Harare after the South African League takes a break. Most of the South African based players conclude their club commitments on January 21, but Khama Billiat’s Mamelodi Sundowns have a match against Baroka the following day.

Czech Republic-based, Costa Nhamoinesu, and Mathew Rusike and Tino Kadewere, based in Sweden, are all on a break.

Netherlands-based midfielder, Marvin Nakamba plays his last club match of the year on December 17 when Vitesse visit Feyenoord.

Striker, Knowledge Musona is likely to miss the Ivory Coast friendly, as his team KV Oostende play AS Eupen on the same day as the Warriors’ friendly.
