Sylvester Mudaniri (34) was driving a service vehicle, when he encroached into the opposite lane, resulting in a collision with a civilian-driven truck along Matopos Road in Bulawayo on August 4 this year.
But Mudaniri denied the charge of driving without due care, when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate, Manasa Musiwa last week.
He was remanded out of custody to today for trial.
In his plea, Mudaniri accused the driver of the other vehicle of encroaching into his lane and causing the accident.
It is the State’s case that on August 4 this year and at around 7pm, Mudaniri was driving a Defender truck, when he allegedly encroached into the other lane and hit a Mercedes Benz truck driven by Michael Kacheri.
As a result of the impact, the police vehicle is said to have sustained some scratches on the right side door, while the other vehicle had its headlights shattered.
