ZIMBABWEAN professional golfer, Scott Vincent will be hoping to build on his recent run of good form on the Asian Tour by winning the $1 million Resorts World Manila Masters which starts tomorrow at the Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club in the Philippines.

The 24-year-old rising star, who recently overtook Brendon de Jonge as the country’s highest ranked golfer, has had an unforgettable rookie season on the Asian Tour finishing 18th or higher in his first five tournaments on the highly lucrative circuit.
His best finish was a tie for second at the Shinhan Donghae Open in South Korea last month, which not only earned his the biggest pay cheque of his young career — a cool $93,420 — but also secured his playing privileges for next season.
With his immediate future secured, Vincent is hungry for more of such results and he is hoping to continue his good form at this week’s tournament.
Speaking on his official blog on the Asian Tour website, Vincent, said he was raring to go, ahead of today’s tee off as he aims to improve his current position on Asian Tour Order of Merit Standings.
“I’ve been taking a bit of a rest and working on my game since (South) Korea, as it has been a busy year. I haven’t played as much as I would have liked, but maybe that’s also good as it allows me to recharge and get fresh for this week,” he said. “I’m ready to go and I’m looking forward to what the week has to offer. Playing well in Korea has eased pressure since it helped to secure my card for next year.
“But looking ahead, I’m trying to get that first win out here and I’m ready to go. I’m also trying to finish as high as I can on the Order of Merit so that I can get into the bigger events too. I’m looking to wrap the season up very well,” he said.

Vincent also opened up on how he secured his playing privileges in Asia after an impressive display during the tour’s Qualifying School held in Thailand at the Asian Tour in January.
“A friend asked me to try my luck out here on the Asian Tour. I didn’t really consider it at first, but I’m very glad I did. There are a few South African guys who play on this tour and they speak very highly of it. It’s a brand new experience for me this year, visiting new places and taking in all the sights and sound of what each country has to offer. It has obviously worked out very well for me and it’s setting me up very nicely for next year,” he said.
