The Zimbabwe senior national 15s rugby team succumbed to their second defeat in as many matches to hosts Hong Kong at the Cup of Nations in a match played at the King’s Park Sports Ground yesterday.

The loss against the rising Southeast Asian nation ended the Sables’ slim hopes of winning the competitive four-nation tournament following their 19-15 defeat to defending champions, Russia on Friday.
The Sables have not registered a victory in nine international matches dating back to their 16-10 win over Tunisia in July last year.
In a dominant first-half display, Hong Kong ran in two converted tries and a penalty to take a 17-3 half-time lead and although the Sables put up a spirited performance in the second half, the outcome was never in doubt.
A further 18 points after the break from the hosts, courtesy of two tries, three penalties and a conversion ensured the Sables never got close to coming out of the encounter with a positive result.
Zimbabwe’s only points in the match came from two penalties by flyhalf, Lenience Tambwera, while centre Rian O’Neill chipped in with a charged-down try towards the end of the clash.
