Caps United shareholders, Farai Jere and Nhamo Tutisani have dissolved the teams’ board and a new one is set to be put in place by Friday.

The shareholders’ representative, Lewis Uriri, who was chairperson of the board, made the announcement at a Press conference yesterday, where he also said the top-flight football club was on the hunt for a new chief executive officer.
Cuthbert Chitima has been the acting CEO since last year and the club will be inviting applications to fill up the position.
Uriri said the change in administration was necessitated by a desire to strengthen institutions within the club, as they target success in the Caf Champions League, in which Caps United will be participating in next year.
“The shareholders of Caps United, Farai Jere and Nhamo Tutisani have resolved to dissolve the Caps United board with immediate effect,” he said. “In the next two days, the acting CEO will handle Caps United affairs. This is in line with the vision we have. We have much to say thank you for to the competent men, who were on the board, who piloted this ship to the position that we are in. But the position that we are in also demands that certain measures be taken to improve certain competencies on the board and the president of Caps (Jere) will announce a new board that will lead the team into the African Safari. Time has come to also have a substantive CEO.”
Uriri said the club wanted to position itself for success on the continent after winning the 2016 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League championship.
“We believe the victory by Sundowns marked the commencement of the dominance of the Caf Champions League by the Cosafa region and we are going to try and have institutions in place that will get us to the place we wish to be. By this time next year, we should be where Sundowns are at the moment”

He said Jere and Tutisani, who were not on the previous board, would be in the new set-up.
Uriri said he would consider staying on in football administration having said that he would quit the game at the end of this season.
“There might be some unfinished business that might persuade me to stick around for another six months,” he said.
The previous board was composed of Uriri, Desmond Ali, Willard Manyengavana, Mordecai Sachikonye, Chitima and supporters’ representatives, Abraham Kawadza and Alex Munyaka.
