Caps United edged Chibuku Super Cup winners Ngezi Platinum 1-0 on Sunday courtesy of Simba Nhivi to take their tally to 60 points, two ahead of second-placed FC Platinum, who hammered Highlanders 3-0 in another league match at Mandava.

FC Platinum are away to Tsholotsho for their last match of the campaign.

The Zvishavane-based side will be hoping that Caps United stumble against Chapungu to win their maiden league title by beating Tsholotsho.

Both Caps United and FC Platinum face tough challenges, coming up against two sides faced with the prospect of relegation and in desperate need of the points.

It all depends on how many teams will be relegated at the end of the season, as PSL and Zifa continue to haggle over the issue.

There is the possibility of two teams going down at the end of the season, which would be replaced by the two winners of a play-off featuring all four Division One champions.

Then there is the possibility of four teams going down, which would suck in Chapungu, currently sitting on position 13, three points behind Hwange.

Tsholotsho, on the other hand, need to win their match against FC Platinum to avoid finishing in the bottom two. They have the same number of points as their rivals Mutare City Rovers, who face Ngezi Platinum Stars at Baobab Stadium in Mhondoro.

It all sets up what should be interesting duels both at the top and bottom of the table.

Highlanders, who no longer have an interest in the championship, will have to be content with a third-place finish after their dream was shattered following a comprehensive defeat to FC Platinum, host Hwange at Barbourfields.
