Event organiser, Benjamin Nyandoro, of Jive Zimbabwe, told NewsDay yesterday that the event would see artistes playing against journalists from a number of media houses.

“We have organised this bash as a way of enhancing social interaction between artistes, arts stakeholders, music promoters and the media, as we work together on the showbiz circuit,” he said.

“The winning team between the media and the artistes will then play Chipaz Select, comprising soccer legends, arts promoters and other arts stakeholders, as the last match of the day.”

Nyandoro said after the soccer matches, fans would be entertained by a star-studded line-up of performers headlined by Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi, sungura maestro, Alick Macheso, Jah Prayzah, Andy Muridzo, Peter Moyo, Sulumani Chimbetu, Alexio Kawara, Soul Jah Love, Kinnah, Ammara Brown and Sandra Ndebele.

“We have joined forces ahead of Chipaz’s 43rd birthday celebrations, something that attests to how everyone in the arts sector and beyond appreciates what Chipaz has been and is doing on the showbiz scene. With this level of unity, I am certain of a success event,” Nyandoro said.

Some musicians, who will take part in the match, have applauded the event organiser for organising the social gathering, saying it is a noble initiative.

The musicians, promoters and media personnel will today unveil their teams at a luncheon at Garwe Restaurant.

“The luncheon is meant for the teammates to interact and know each other, as they will not have time to train due to their pressing schedules,” Nyandoro said.
