Guinea Fowl area comprises of Guinea Fowl High and Primary schools, Zimbabwe National Army complex, ZBC and Transmedia complex and a compound of about 100 families that houses public service workers.

Zinwa corporate communications and marketing manager, Marjorie Munyonga said the water authority’s intervention has seen the community receiving constant water supplies following months of serious water shortages.

“Zinwa resuscitated the second borehole, which is now fully-equipped with a new submersible pump, a situation that has brought relief to water shortages that were faced by the Guinea Fowl community,” Munyonga said during a media tour of the community on Tuesday.

“The resuscitation of the borehole has also seen water production rising by 200% from six cubic meters to 18 cubic meters per hour.”

A senior master at Guinea Fowl High, Herbert Mugutwa confirmed the school now receives normal water supplies following Zinwa’s intervention.

Munyonga said the resuscitation of the borehole was part of the water authority’s $1,8m programme to resuscitate over 1 200 boreholes across the country under the national drought mitigation programme.
