BULAWAYO Chiefs could emerge champions in the Zifa Southern Region Soccer League if they pick up maximum points against Bosso 90 at Hartsfield Rugby Grounds tomorrow.

Log leaders Chiefs, coached by Thulani Sibanda, who rejoined them after dumping Premier Soccer League champions Chicken Inn in August, are on 60 points with two games to go, while Bantu Rovers and Victoria Falls-based Amagagasi are tied on 58 points.

Their championship dream tomorrow will rest on Bantu Rovers and Amagagasi dropping points against ZPC Hwange and Indlovu Iyanyathela.

Bantu Rovers have a tough encounter at Luveve against ZPC Hwange, who sit on position four with 55 points, while Amagagasi hit the road to Bulawayo to HQ1 Brigade for army side Indlovu Iyanyathela, who are on position nine with 33 points.

Bosso 90, sitting on position 10 with 32 points, hold the key for Bulawayo Chiefs’ ascendancy and will be no stroll in the park.

Chiefs coach Sibanda yesterday conceded it would not be an easy game.

“It’s a tough game, but we take it as it comes. If we win it and remain on top, then we will win the championship, but football is an unpredictable game and we will accept the result of that day,” Sibanda said.

They play their last game against prisons side Ntabazinduna.

Former Premier Soccer League side Bantu Rovers are on position two, and coach Johannes Ngodzo said he was not worried about other games, but his focus would be on collecting maximum points against ZPC Hwange.

“We must just focus on our next game against ZPC Hwange. That is what I have been doing from the first day to just focus on our next game. If we focus too much on winning the championship we will lose concentration and put ourselves under unnecessary pressure,” Ngodzo said.
