This year’s edition will be held under the theme 50 More Years, following Botswana’s commemorations of its 50th independence anniversary on September 30.

Wataffi told NewsDay yesterday that everything was in place for the fiesta and he was ready to rock Botswana.

“This will be my debut performance at this big festival. The festival is recognised internationally. So that puts me and Zimbabwe in the limelight,” he said.

Wataffi will feature on the opening day of the festival.

The first edition of the Maun International Arts Festival was in 2011 as a spoken word festival, and later broadened its horizons and catchment by embracing theatre, dance, music, poetry, comedy and visual art.

The eventful festival will also feature artistes from Bulgaria, the United States, South Africa, Zambia, Ghana, Nigeria and Ghana.

From Botswana, Wataffi will jet back into the country to prepare for the Gospel Artistes Diaspora concert to be held in Dubai later this year and another Africa tour.

Meanwhile, Bulawayo Afro-pop musician Mzoe 7 and Xmile will grace Imankelenkele Lubombo Summer Festival in Swaziland on October 26 alongside artistes such as Mozaic, Sandz, Fanaza, Ras Ritchie and Sakhile.

Mzoe 7 is confident he will turn the heat on in Saziland.

“I am leaving the country on Sunday. There’s no doubt I will put up a top drawer act. I will show Swaziland what Zimbabweans are made of,” he said.
