AFTER a long sabbatical from music, forgotten kwaito star, Sikhululekile Mpofu — popularly known as Skhu — has returned to mainstream music, in gospel garb this time, following her baptism in the Seventh Day Adventist church.

The 36-year-old Skhu made waves at the turn of the millennium with secular hits, Hamba Nobani — which featured herbrother, POZee — and Owami.
“This decision came after I received Jesus Christ and got baptised in 2010. I have been working on my debut gospel album that will be released early next year. All I want to do now is to work for the Lord and be a good mother and wife,” she said.
The musician said she was going to officially bid farewell to her fans as a secular artiste on November 12, with a performance at The Terrace Gardens in Bulawayo.
“My last show as the Skhu you have always known will be at the Terrace Gardens in November. We will be celebrating a lot of things on this day including Kas NoValo’s 10th anniversary, my music career and bidding farewell to my fans, to take up gospel (music),” she said.
Kas NoValo is a record label co-founded by Skhu and POZee.
Skhu has two albums Owami and Dlulile and released an inspirational gospel track, Uthando lwethu, in 2010.
