Sri Lanka arrived in Harare yesterday without injured captain, Angelo Mathews.

Opening batsman, Chamu Chibhabha, Prince Masvaure, wicketkeeper-batsman, Richmond Mutumbami, as well as bowlers, Brian Vitori and John Nyumbu were the casualties from the initial 20-man squad.

Young Tarisai Musakanda made the cut ahead of the more experienced Chibhabha. Chibhabha struggled to make an impact in the New Zealand series in August, where he scored just 55 runs from four innings.

He went on to make 15 runs in two innings, while turning out for Zim A in their unofficial Tests against Pakistan A earlier this month.

Regis Chakabva made the squad, but it is likely that the selectors will give the gloves to Peter Moor, who has been in good form of late.

Chakabva played in one of the two unofficial Tests against Pakistan A and made scores of seven and four.

Moor, on the other hand, made 157 runs in the first innings of the first unofficial Test before he managed 16 in the second innings.

The selectors, led by convenor, Tatenda Taibu, have not been shy of leaving out some of the big names in the game.

Former captain, Elton Chigumbura could not even make the 20-man squad, while Vusi Sibanda also fell early in the vetting stages.

Tino Mawoyo is set to make his return into the team having been blighted by injuries for more than a year.

He had been selected in the squad that faced New Zealand in August, but he got injured on the eve of the first Test and could not recover in time for the second.
