Mapeza is accused of threatening match officials after the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match between Harare City and his team at Rufaro Stadium on October 8.

According to a PSL Press statement released yesterday, the former Monomotapa coach is said to have contravened order 31 of the PSL rules and regulations, which make it an act of misconduct on the part of the players or official of a club who “assault, threaten, intimidate, interfere, mislead or insult a match official, player, official of the league, public Press or media, or any other person before or after the match”.

He will appear before the PSL disciplinary committee on November 1 to answer the charge.

Mapeza complained bitterly at referee, Philani Ncube after his side lost their league match against Harare City 2-1.

He told reporters after the match that he felt his team had been hard done by the match officials, thus his response.

With the defeat, FC Platinum lost their place at the top of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League table to Caps United.

The platinum miners now sit third on the log after a home draw against Ngezi Platinum coupled with Highlanders’ win over Bulawayo City at the weekend saw the two swapping places.

If found guilty, Mapeza faces a fine and could be banned from the touchline.

Last year, Dynamos strikers, Rodreck Mutuma and Takesure Chinyama were slpped with three-match bans each after they were found guilty of insulting the same referee. But with just three matches left in the league, Mapeza may escape any ban for this season.

Murape is accused of assaulting and threatening opponents and match officials. According to PSL, he is said to have insulted and assaulted Caps officials on October 16 before the Harare derby at the National Sports Stadium. He is also being charged with breaching PSL rules and regulations.

Last week, Caps United wrote to PSL complaining about Murape’s conduct, alleging in the letter that the former Dynamos captain had assaulted Makepekepe coach, Lloyd Chitembwe.

He is said to have attempted to enter the Caps United dressing room just before the match on Sunday, but was stopped by security personnel.

It is alleged that he had a confrontation with Chitembwe, whom he insulted and assaulted in full view of the match commissioner, Lovemore Marange.

During the match, Murape was sent off for celebrating on the field and making gestures at the Caps United bench after his team had taken a three-nil lead.

The match, however, ended in a 3-all draw after Caps rallied back in the final few minutes.
