Muyambo told NewsDay that this was one of the exciting times for him since his debut solo exhibition in 2012.

“Preparations are well on track and I am very excited about this exhibition, which is going to be my penultimate one. I exhibited as a solo artist in 2012,” he said.

Muyambo said through the exhibition, he was celebrating late and living artists, who have made an impact in the arts industry.

“It aims to celebrate the great minds of these icons that left footprints in our arts industry. These artists are from different genres, including sculpture, photography, painting and music,” he said.

Muyambo said the exhibition will open many opportunities for upcoming artists and inspire them to remain focused like the icons being celebrated.

He emphasised the need to turn around the local arts sector into a multi-billion dollar industry.

“There is a need to educate the young generation from the grassroots. For art to be appreciated by consumers when they reach adulthood, they should have had an access to it from a younger age,” he said.

“We need to push for art as a serious subject in school’s curriculum even in group B schools. That way, future generations can appreciate art and create a local market.”
