A 19-YEAR-OLD Lupane rapist has blamed evil spirits for leading him to rape his neighbours’ 11-year-old daughter.

The man, who cannot be named to protect the victim’s identity, pleaded guilty to the rape charge when he appeared before Hwange regional magistrate, Dambudzo Malunga on Wednesday.
The court slapped him with an effective six-year jail term.
Prosecutor Tawanda Sigauke told the court that the incident happened sometime in July this year after the girl had spurned the rapist’s sexual advances.
When the girl tried to scream, the man threatened to kill her. The victim only revealed her ordeal to her brother on August 14 after the rapist threatened to sexually abuse her again.
