Political violence players will be jailed

Opinion & Analysis
Everyday we hear of people being beaten our police force. Beaten by for protesting and gathering. It sounds like a play, but this is serious.

We cannot allow these beatings to continue. Beating people is not enforcing law. How can police officers beat a person for giving them flowers? Who is giving these orders of torture?

As Zimbabweans, we must know that a dictator’s last line of defence are the armed forces of the nation. The simple truth to every police officer and any other people torturing civilians is that they are committing crimes.

If you are beating up people because you are a member of our law enforcement agencies, that is torture. If you are an overzealous Zanu PF member, the severity of your crime depends on the level of damage you are causing.

Documentation of all the places where these crimes are being committed is urgent. Names of all who getinvolved must be kept. These will be needed in a new Zimbabwe free from Zanu PF’s madness.

A new Zimbabwe must have some sort of Nuremberg Trials of Germany after Word War Two. All prominent Nazi leaders who led the killing of innocent Germans and minorities were tried and sentenced. That must happen in Zim.

We have seen a lot of violence. Starting from Gukurahundi, farm invasions or violence, election violence, abductions and now the bashing of harmless unarmed civilians demanding good governance.

It is out of concern of these terror tactics that we must keep a record of who is committing these crimes? Where are they being committed? Who is leading those committing the crimes? This will be useful in the future.

We can not have a situation where the people who are supposed to protect us, go about beating and teargassing us. After all, the salaries they get are coming from our taxes. It’s not Zanu PF money. Is that how they repay us? Zimbabweans must continue to fight for democratic change.

Political violence players must be prosecuted and jailed in a new Zimbabwe which is definetly on the way.
