Mugabe wants whole nation to go down with him

Mugabe is ordering the owners of Zimbabwe to remain silent and not protest against his intransigence, when all things have gone wrong and unacceptable.

Zimbabweans have been forced to tolerate President Robert Mugabe’s selfish ambition for too long, while the majority’s social and economic status has declined to unimaginable depths. By Zanda Shumba,Our Reader

Even those who are forced and duped to vote for Mugabe live in squalid conditions. If we just watch and give way to his totally unreasonable demands, then Zimbabwe will be in a completely dilapidated State by the time he tries to force himself again on us, come 2018.

That Mugabe controls all State machinery to ensure self-recycling into power, albeit with negative delivery, he will again be at the helm. Zimbabweans will have to use the protest avenue that is gaining momentum daily to extricate themselves from the predicament that his evil desires has ushered them into.

He has closed the poll avenue because he is in total control of every aspect of the electoral process, be it voter registration, the right to vote, the right to campaign by other political parties and the right to recourse in case of electoral grievances or fraud.

Mugabe is ordering the owners of Zimbabwe to remain silent and not protest against his intransigence, when all things have gone wrong and unacceptable.

With Mugabe not willing to conduct free and fair elections, protesting peacefully for him to resign is the only way that is left, and while that is within the people’s constitutional rights, he has gone a long way to have that path closed through arresting protest leaders and organisers, in order to intimidate would-be protesters. These protests will intensify.

The economy has crushed and will not recover given his ruinous, uneconomically sound policies that only address the political side, with gross negligence of the economic and social aspects.

So largely, Mugabe precipitated the economic meltdown himself by putting all emphasis solely on political survival, overlooking and tolerating corruption and plunder of resources by supporters in the process.

Mugabe has sacrificed people’s well-being, the very thing he has been mandated to uphold.

He cannot contain hungry and jobless people. Unemployment is high and the tax revenue base to remunerate civil servants or even to keep government just going has shrunk rapidly. Alongside is a liquidity crisis, the situation is worsening.

The economy is suffocating right before his eyes, but he keeps holding on to power, scared and unwilling to let go. Mugabe has chosen to go down with the whole population. He wants to continue until utter ruin of the Zimbabwean people.

The Mugabe-led government has, through monopolistic State-controlled media, downplayed the state of collapse and bankruptcy of the country.
