Thabani Ncube (27) was not asked to plead to the charge of malicious damage to property when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Adeline Mbeure.

He was remanded in custody to August 22 to allow the State to take him for mental examination.

The court heard that on August 12 this year, Ncube who appears to be having mental challenges went to the Bulawayo Central Court yard and took an iron bar at the main gate before proceeding to the CID offices where he damaged the door with the bar.

He allegedly went to the CID Law and Order section and damaged 10 window panes and other records in the office. Ncube was later arrested after he had damaged property worth $200.
