PDP Bulawayo spokesperson Edwin Ndlovu said the march was in solidarity with “our suffering brothers and sisters who have been impoverished by Mugabe and Zanu PF over the past 36 years”.

Ndlovu called on Mugabe to relinquish power and pave way for a transitional government to prepare the country for fresh elections.

“Zimbabwe is a failed State and it seems Mugabe and his Zanu PF do not have any clue on how to resuscitate the economy and the future of this country lies with PDP,” he said.

Ndlovu reiterated the view gaining traction among opposition parties to field one candidate to challenge Mugabe in the 2018 presidential race.

The march came as the party was preparing for its provincial rally scheduled for September 11, which will be held at White City Stadium.
