Speaking ahead of his performance dubbed “Higher Praise Charity Concert” at AFM Fountain of Life assembly in Tafara on Saturday, Mahachi said artistes have the clout to assist the needy.

“I have felt an impact of how livelihoods can be changed through what we can do as artistes, I’m so humbled to be part of this concert whose motive is to support the lives of the needy children,” he said.

Fans at the show came on board to support needy children housed at Mai Carol Orphanage Mabvuku.

The children’s home wasfounded in 1995, currently houses 25 children, most are still in primary school.

The charity show was the brainchild of 21-year-old Steven Chibwe, a youth member at AFM-Tafara, who organised the show after engaging upcoming artistes including Tawanda Midzi, Worship Mandate, Harare Celebration choir and Gospel Reverb.

“This is not the last community initiative. We are going to host another charity show in December when we hope that the fans will come in their numbers like what they have today to grace this special event giving items of their need,” Chibwe said.

Basic groceries, including 150kgs of maize, clothing items and school shoes, were raised from the fans.

Mahachi, who recently released a video for the song Usacheme, urged local fans to continue supporting the orphanage even after the show.

He did a joint performance with Gospel Reverb and the song Naye Jesu was hugely popular with fans.

“To give is a Christian’s mandate, therefore, I am urging fellow artistes to do the same and I’m looking forward to be part of any charity initiative which aims to raise funds for the needy,” Mahachi said.
