Dynamos assistant coach Murape Murape said the visit by the club leadership was significant in motivating the team. He said while Mubaiwa occasionally visits the team at their training sessions, yesterday’s call was important in raising team spirit as they seek to bounce back to winning ways after a difficult run.

“The president usually visits the team at training only that at times you won’t be here. But obviously everyone is happy to see the president here at training.

It’s like you when you visit your children at school, they will be happy. It motivates them to want to do better than what they have been doing and we hope this will impact positively on the team,” Murape said.

The Dynamos assistant coach said some of the senior players dropped from the team last week amid reports of indiscipline had shown commitment at training this week. He, however, emphasised that they would still select the team based on merit at training.

He said they would continue to introduce young blood as they seek to find a winning formula that could help the team finish in a respectable position.

“We shall continue introducing new blood and try to blend it with experience. We need players who are committed to the Dynamos cause. I remember during our time, I would be hurt if I trained and the coach, whether it was Sunday Chidzambwa or David Mandigora, did not commend me after training. I always tried to work very hard at training, that spirit is no longer there. We have now revived the junior development programme and have some very good youngsters we have identified. Unfortunately we could not register them with PSL.”

Dynamos won the reverse fixture 2-0 with Masimba Mambare and Brett Amidu on target, but Murape is not reading much into that insisting Harare City are a threat and are coached by a shrewd mentor.

“They are coached by a very good coach — our brother — and had a good result last week. But we have done our homework and need to collect maximum points,” Murape said.
