Mutoko jetted into the country early this month ahead of a nationwide tour where he was scheduled to share the stage with a number of artistes including Dan Mhere and Togarepi Chivaviro.

He has also cancelled his fourth DVD album recording project that was set to start tomorrow.

The Zvimwe Zvinoda Munamato singer confirmed the developments yesterday.

“I lost my father on Thursday night. He will be buried on August 20 as we are waiting for my other siblings in the United Kingdom who are travelling home for the funeral. I was left with no option except to cancel all the shows. I wouldn’t have any energy, motivation and strength to entertain and encourage the fans during times like this,” he said

Mutoko said, he was likely to resume the shows in December after his father’s memorial service.

The shows that have been cancelled were to be held in Kadoma, Gokwe, Gweru and Masvingo.

A biology consultant in Europe, Mutoko released his first album, Mwari Vakatendeka in 2008, which had the popular song Tsvakai Jesu Murarame. The following year he did his second album The Valley of Dry Bones and had the hit song Zvimwe Zvinoda Munamato.

Over the years he has also released The Voice of Silence (2009) and Adelante (Move On) in 2010. He took a sabbatical break before releasing 1 Samuel 7:12 – Ebenezer This Far the Lord has Taken Us last year. The album features dendera exponent Sulumani Chimbetu and Mathias Mhere.
