The cash shortages afflicting the nation could not spoil the fun, as the organising team had put in place a mechanism to ensure fans could pay their way to witness the launch of Jah Prayzah’s seventh album using plastic money.

After the Harare launch, the Tsviriyo hitmaker embarked on a road trip to Bulawayo for the second launch at the Large City Hall, which also attracted a full house.

The Harare launch, which attracted fans from all walks of life, was also used to officially unveil Jah Prayzah’s smashing video titled Watora Mari, which he collaborated with Tanzanian Diamond Platnumz, before it was later released on YouTube.

The video was well-received, if the wild cheers from the audience are anything to go by.

Music superstar, Oliver Mtukudzi, Sam Dondo, Willom Tight and comedian, Gonyeti of The Bustop fame were present to lend their support to Jah Prayzah, with top-notch performances at the HICC.

In Bulawayo, Musoja shared the stage with Winky D, Jeys Marabini and Cal_Vin.

Mtukudzi, showered Jah Prayzah with praises much to the delight of the audience.

“Jah Prayzah is my son and today has made us proud as artistes. He has done well and we should support him and his good work,” Tuku said.

During the nearly two-hour stellar performance, in which he was backed by the Third Generation band, Jah Prayzah took time to thank his wife, Rufaro for her continued support in his career and later invited her on the stage before kissing her much to the delight of the packed auditorium.

Two lucky Jah Prayzah fans from Harare and Bulawayo won a Toyota Vitz (new shape) each while others went home with fridges and television sets as prizes for buying the launch tickets.

Jive Zimbabwe boss, Benjamin Nyandoro, who is handling the marketing, assured fans that the album, selling at $1, will be readily available — as a result of several of their partnership deals — in all the country’s 10 provinces. Songs on the album include the title track Mdhara Vachauya, Hossana, Watora Mari featuring Diamond Platnumz, Tsotsi, Jenny, Goto, Kurumidza, Seke, Ndide Ndikude, Mbembe and In the Ghetto.

In an interview with NewsDay on the sidelines of the Bulawayo launch, one of the event organisers Dee Nosh of 2 Kings Entertainment said: “Bulawayo supports Jah Prayzah and coming here a day after the Harare launch was inevitable. We thank the fans, who came out in their numbers and those who joined the road trip for supporting the musician.”
