In a statement yesterday, Zimra gave motorists two months to check whether their vehicles had been properly imported.

“Please utilise this opportunity to get the clearance for your vehicles regularised urgently, before September 30, 2016. If you fall into the category of importer of motor vehicles which were imported within the period in which Zimra wants to check as mentioned above and you fail to comply within the period provided for in this notice, you risk having your motor vehicle seized wherever it is found,” Zimra said.

Once motorists submit their papers and are found to be compliant, Zimra would issue confirmation on the proper clearance of the vehicle.

Confirmation on the vehicle imported during the time specified would be in accordance with the Customs and Excise Act [Chapter 23:02], Zimra said.
