Nigel Zimunya (22), of Chihota stands in Epworth, was released from prison under the Presidential amnesty on June 25 this year after serving three years for unlawful entry and robbery.

Allegations against Zimunya are that a week after his release, he teamed up with one Jeffery and broke into a house in Milton Park in the dead of the night and stole a Samsung S4 mobile phone, cash, an iPhone 5 and a brown purse. The State alleges when the two were about to leave the house, they accidentally awakened the unnamed complainant who saw their faces, but managed to escape.

On June 28, the complainant met Zimunya by chance along Monavale Road in Milton Park and alerted the police, leading to his arrest.

The court remanded him in custody to June 18.
