ZIM, a non-profit making organisation, which aims to promote and develop best practices in management and leadership, recognised the charismatic preacher for leading his congregation to be one of its kind where over 30 000 people attend each week’s service.

UFIC spokesperson Prime Kufa said Makandiwa was elated by the honour, but paid tribute to Jesus.

“As the Prophet always says, ‘it’s not about me, but Jesus’. He is always clear that Jesus sent him and he is just a vessel that is being used by Jesus,” Kufa said.

The UFIC leader was honoured alongside the founder of the country’s largest mobile phone operator, Econet, Strive Masiyiwa, who got the Lifetime Achievement Award.

FBC chief executive officer John Mushayavanhu won the Best Corporate Award along with Professor Eddie Mwenje from Bindura University of Science Education, while Tinashe Matarisi got the Small to Medium-Enterprises accolade. Last year, Makandiwa was named third among the most influential people in Zimbabwe by a Western-based pollster.
