VIVA Zimbabwe leader, William Mutumanje, popularly known as Acie Lumumba, was yesterday granted $300 bail by Harare magistrate, Tendai Mahwe when he appeared in court on fraud and forgery charges after spending the weekend in police custody.

Lumumba (28) is currently on $400 bail at the same court on charges of insulting the Office of the President when he used the “F” word on President Robert Mugabe during the launch of his party a fortnight ago.
Lumumba is jointly charged with Jethro Tonderai Maposa (21) on the fraud and forgery charges.
According to the State, Lumumba and Maposa were found in possession of a Toyota Ipsum, which was not properly registered in terms of the country’s laws.
The information on the forged documents was not captured in the Central Vehicle Registry data base.
The two, with the assistance of Gibson Mubaiwa, allegedly produced a forged registration book for the car and sold it to Justice Mabuto through Royal Car Sales for $1 850 last July.
The documents were discovered to be fake last month after Mabuto tried to licence the vehicle at the Zimbabwe National Road Administration.

Mahwe remanded the matter to July 25.
Meanwhile, Mahwe denied bail to a 34-year-old suspected police impersonator, who also appeared in court on charges of escaping from lawful custody.
Lloyd Mutasa, of Glen Norah B, allegedly bolted out of custody at Rotten Row Magistrates’ Court yesterday while being escorted to court on charges of impersonation and extortion.
Mutasa was immediately re-arrested by members of the public and the complainant, a Constable Mudekunye.
The State opposed bail saying the suspect was a flight risk.
Mutasa was remanded in custody to July 25.
