Magama, a bar owner at Mkoba 6 Shopping Centre bashed Mloniphani Sithole (31) on June 21 this year after the latter reprimanded the businessman’s wife, only identified as Tabeth, for throwing litter in an area she had already cleaned up.

When Sithole ordered Tabeth to pick up the litter, Magama, who was in the bar came out and started shouting at the council worker.

He then grabbed a broom and used it to assault Sithole before dragging her into his bar, where he hit her against the wall and head-butted her three times.

Sithole who sustained serious injuries as a result of the assault, reported the matter to the police, resulting in Magama’s arrest.

Gweru magistrate Tayengwa Chibanda initially sentenced him to 12 months in prison, but suspended four months on condition of good behaviour.
