The Zanu PF MP raised the issue in the National Assembly during debate on the Second Reading of the Minerals Exploration and Marketing Bill.

“I feel issues of minerals exploration and minerals marketing should be treated differently in the Bill to avoid a lot of corruption happening in the minerals sector, especially what has been happening at MMCZ,” he said.

“There are people who have given oral evidence from the MMCZ before the Mines Portfolio Committee, saying a lot of money was misused and now we are rushing to pass this Bill without separating issues of exploration and marketing.”

Holder was referring to evidence presented last week that Gudyanga was running a one-man board and allegedly demanding $30 000 in board fees from MMCZ.

“There is so much corruption at the Mines ministry such that I feel there should be a separate Bill on mining exploration and another on minerals marketing so that we adequately deal with the issue of corruption,” he said.

Meanwhile, Hatfield parliamentarian Tapiwa Mashakada (MDC-T) yesterday suggested the government must craft a statutory instrument to ensure point-of-sale machines are installed at all businesses, including hair salons and fuel stations, to address the cash shortage.

Southerton MP Gift Chimanikire (MDC-T) said there was need for the government to begin taxing people that were building multi-million dollar mansions.
