The duo had initially planned to launch the album in November last year, but could not go ahead with their plans due to financial constraints.

“Our first album, which carries the name of the best track Mhepo, is now ready and we will launch it officially on our website on Friday (today),” said band leader Murape.

On Monday this week the band released the title track and circulated it on the Internet, which drew positive feedback from fans, some of whom are as far as South Africa and Europe.

Mhlanga, who is the lead vocalist, said she parted ways with Pah Chihera after five months because she wanted to pursue her own career in music.

“I left Pah Chihera five months after working with her because I wanted to do my own thing,” she said.

“Our music has its uniqueness with that of my ex-band although it’s all Afro-jazz. I won’t copy her style.”

She started off singing gospel together with Murape at Christian College of Southern Africa with a band called For Him six years ago.

“I did music lessons at Pakare Paye Arts Centre in 2011 before I even knew Pah Chihera. I also worked with Sister Flame, Mike Bere and David Hondoyedzomba,” she said.

The album has social commentary tracks like Mhepo, Undi-Mbundire and Chihwa and two featured tracks, Vimbiso and Tariro, featuring Sisqo Bongozozo.
