AFRO-JAZZ sensation Pah Chihera and South Africa-based Zimbabwean dancehall singer Buffalo Souljah have been nominated for this year’s edition of African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA) set for October 15 in Dallas‚ Texas‚ United States.

Born Pamhidzai Tracy Mbirimi, Pah Chihera was nominated in the Best Female Southern Africa, while Buffalo Souljah real name Thabani Ndlovu will battle for honours in the Dancehall Act of the Year category respectively.

However, the duo’s songs alone will not guarantee them the gong as they have to bank on the support of votes from their supporters as the awards are won through online votes.

In her category, the Runonzi Rudo hitmaker will battle for honours with continental music heavyweights who include Zonke, Busiswa and Miss Lira from South Africa, Ice Queen Cleo of Zambia, Lizha James from Mozambique, Botswana’s Nnunu Ramo Gotsy and Chikune from Namibia.

Speaking to NewsDay yesterday, Pah Chihera’s manager Hillary Mutake of Punchline Entertainment confirmed the nomination and said he was now waiting for official papers from the organisers.

“I have been talking to the awards organisers for more details on the nomination and they promised to send me all the nomination details today (Yesterday) and will update you with the full information,” he said.

In her category, Pah Chihera admitted that she faces some stiff competition from the other seven great musicians saying winning will be a bonus as she appreciates much the nomination.

“It is an honour and I feel humbled to be nominated for such a prestigious award. The nomination means a lot to my growing career. I appeal for the voting support from fellow Zimbabweans for me to land this award,” she said.

“I am indebted to God, receiving such recognition gives me the strength and courage to work hard in my career. I thank my mom and best friend, my family and fans for their unwavering support.”
